With Christmas 2 weeks away and the borders opening up ready for summer holidays, it should be the start of reconnecting with family and friends. Don’t we need a holiday this year to recharge the batteries and then take time to plan (in our heads at least) what 2021 will look like!

NSC Forums Adapt and Attract 1,000 Delegates
With nearly 1,000 virtual and actual delegates in Sydney, the NSC Forums in November this year show-cased the key challenges during 2020 and how people are planning positively for next year. It was great to hear Peter Miskimmin (outgoing CEO of Sport New Zealand) and Rob Dalton (Acting CEO of Sport Australia) speak about grasping the generational opportunity to transform the business of sport.
NSC 2021 Date Launched – Melbourne, 21-23 June 2021
The National Sports Convention 2021 will be held in Melbourne, Monday 21st June to Wednesday 23rd June, with the theme: A BOLD and SUSTAINABLE AGENDA – Sustainability, Investment, Growth and Success. Keynote speakers and program to be launched end of January 2021.
Smart Synthetic Field Health Checks – Maintenance is Critical
Over the past year we have conducted more than a dozen Smart Synthetic Field Health Checks that explore the condition of Councils synthetic fields. Assessing their safety, likely performance and provide an estimated life expectancy. It has been really obvious that the fields are being maintained weekly and fortnightly are in better condition. The crux is the level of infill in each field, with four fields assessed under 3 years old already looking like 6 or 7-year-old fields due to lack of infill and inadequate maintenance. Lack of infill will reduce the life by up to 50% of the fields expected life. In November, Martin Sheppard was involved in the facilitation of a workshop on the Transformation of Sport, through digitalisation and embracement of Sports Technology with key technologists EngageRM. Their platform, which is integrated with Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 is helping dozens of commercial sports organisations, NSO’s and SSA’s grow their business and capitalise on a customer centric strategy.
